Vietnam. When I think of this country, a rush of sights, sounds, smells, and tastes flood my senses and make me long to return to a country that is truly unique in many ways. From the terraced, rice paddies in the northern hills to the jutting lime stone peaks out of Ha Long Bay to the spicy, sweet, sour, savory tastes of the Hanoi cuisine to the friendly people, every day was a new experience. I hope you can join us on a twelve day grand tour of northern Vietnam.

The highlight of the trip will be a four day kayaking trip on Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO Heritage site. However, our adventure does not end there, and our group will also explore the urban and countryside of Vietnam. Part of our time will be spent in the capitol city of Hanoi whose food, architecture, and culture have influences from France, China, and Southeast Asia. We will also head north by train and trek across the rice paddy terraced hills outside of Sapa and homestay at someone's house in an ethnic minority village.

Our trip will be led by two AIF leaders, Greg and Spencer, along with English speaking local guides who we've worked with before. All accommodations and most meals will be provided. A combination of local and western cuisine will be available at most meals.

We look forward to this amazing trip. Feel free to post questions on this blog. We'll post more information and pictures from my past trip in the future.
